Mmmm Food

This is what was made this week.

Cheese and Lettuce Sandwhich

Bread!! I can't believe it. Well, it didn't exactly work to perfection, because we didn't have the right attachment on our juicer, but mmm, with cheese and lettuce, it tasted great, and it was sort of crispy too, like toast!

Hummus.

Made by my dear mother. It tasted good, too! But it had a strong after taste, which wasn't the coolest. Maybe it's just me. Because I don't really like garbanzo beans!

Cheeze

I couldn't believe it, either! Cheese! I didn't add any flavorings except for a lot of nutritional yeast, next time I will add other ingredients. It tasted so nice, and looked pretty cool, too.

Strawberry... Drink (un-inspired name, I know)

Since it is nearly Summer, this has been my favorite drink to sip in the sunny garden. Unfortunately, I have been banned from drinking it everyday, downgraded to drinking it once a week.

Apparently I was using too many strawberries... Hah.

The Raw Vegan Cheesecake Chronicles: Take Two

The Case of the Berry Swirl

I've been wanting to make another Cheesecake for awhile now... and the other day I tried a gorgeous one at the raw vegan cafe, I decided I would try to replicate it, but of course, do it my way.

It has a vanilla crust, boysenberry layer, strawberry layer, and chocolate drizzel... <3

I got the recipe from Meredith at the raw seed. I have started to think that the Cheesecake has real potential and endless possibilities... Hmm... I may have to open a Cheesecake business now.

My menu for this week (with pictures, hopefully):
- Tacos (I really want to make tacos again...)
- Ice Cream Bars
- Cheese (for my mum, who used to love cheese, but now thinks it smells of 'cow'.)
- Bread
- Hummus (my mother is hummus-obsessed at the moment, for no particular reason).

In one week there is a Vegetarian Expo where I live! I can't wait. There are going to be two people talking about Raw Veganism. I think it's great that they're getting the idea out there, and it would be so cool if people could start incorporating and trying raw cuisine in their diets.

The only problem is, (and this sounds really stupid), I don't have anyone to go with! I have a friend, who lives really far away, I know he would want to come, but he wouldn't be able to come into town. And I have another friend who is vegetarian, but is not interested at all in vegetarianism, and I could imagine her wanting to leave the second we arrive. This dilemma needs to be resolved!

Also last week I did a 2 day water fast. It was because of the earthquake, I was feeling really dragged down and I strongly felt I needed a thorough detoxification. I kept a journal and also took my measurements and weight during that time, but I will probably dedicate another post to it.

That's all for now.

Peace and Raw Food,
Felic x

Wednesday: Strawberry Ice Cream

Strawberry Ice Cream

I cannot begin to express my love for strawberries.

That is all.

*snatches*

How is it possible to make the best ice cream in the world that has no milk, eggs, or refined sugar? I don't know, but it is.

Raw Recipe: Stylishly Strawberried Sorbet

So this is like the yummest thang ever to eat, like seriously.

When I was last in Sydney I ate something similiar to this, and when my mum bought some strawberries a few days ago, I instantly attempted to replicate it!

It is so simple, and basic, in fact, it's a crime to use the word 'recipe', since it has only 3 ingredients.

So with no further procrastination, let us introduce them.

Ingredients:
1 & 1/2 cups of Frozen Organic Strawberries
1/2 cup of Water (filter it if you want)
1 tbsp of Honey

Enough for 2 small glasses, or if you're greedy (like myself) 1 big glass.

Method: (Well, there isn't one, really)
Put the ingrediants in a blender, and blend! You may want to add more water, but only a tablespoon at a time. There is no way you want it to be runny, that would just ruin the moment completely.

When it is the 'right' texture (you will know, trust me), add it to the glass(es), add a strawberry on top if you want to add artistic flair, maybe sprinkle on some Goji Berries, and VOILA.

Because we live in the world of Orthorexic Obsession, I thought I'd add the Nutrition Info, so you can feel even better about eating this instead of the giant chocolate cake that you were going to eat.

I don't really like to think of food as a bunch of Nutrients with fancy names, but it's nice to know that what you're eating isn't going to give you heart disease, which is commonly understood when eating something that tastes good. But Raw-Vegan isn't like that!

Despite the fact it is the middle of winter, it is still possibly the nicest thing ever, but seriously guys, conserve your strawberries, they are few and far between, so unless you win the lottery every day, I suggest you eat this only once a week.

I'm so happy we managed to find some Organic Strawberries. I added them to my raw-vegan Breakfast (Cream o' Buckwheat), and it gave it an almost 'fluffy' texture.

I'd just like to add that ALL the recipes I post on here will be Raw-Vegan, because being a Raw-Vegan is the Shizz.
